REFRACTOMETRIC SENSING OF H2SO4 SPECIFIC GRAVITY IN LEAD-ACID CELL OPERATION,

Abstract

A simple inexpensive dipping refractometer for continuous automatic monitoring of the refractive index of fluids was used to record the changes in electrolyte specific gravity during cycling of a lead-acid cell. It introduces no contamination, is durable, and minimizes test sampling and personal attendance. It may be adapted for automatic control systems and can be operated as a level indicator. (Author)
