AMMI PONTOON FIELD ASSEMBLY PROCEDURES.

Abstract

The report was prepared for use as a manual by the military crews engaged in the assembly of Ammi Pontoons under conditions where all of the conveniences of production shops or yards are not available. The manual covers phases of field assembly including crew and equipment requirements, site selection and preparation, layout, fitting-up, welding, inspection, and launching. Since the principal factor in quality control is the welding operations, these are discussed in considerable detail.
