SURVEY OF RECENT LITERATURE ON THE LINEARIZED SUPERSONIC STEADY FLOW EQUATION IN THREE DIMENSIONS. PART I,

Abstract

The purpose of the survey was to single out the mathematical procedure used to solve the flow equation without appealing to physical intuition or empirical knowledge derived from tests or experiments. In most applications the type of boundary conditions which enter into the problem will determine the particular system of coordinates and the type of solution of the flow equation to be used. The linearity of the differential equation will permit the use of linear combinations of solutions by the superposition principle with the attendant evaluation of constant multipliers. (Author)
