FLIGHT TEST REPORT CVAC ZC-4033-003 ON FIVE 16-INCH ABL/LTV BOOSTER MOTORS,

Abstract

The purpose of these tests was: (1) to determine reliability of the 16-inch ABL LTV motor, (2) to obtain internal nose pressures of the ABL rocket, (3) to obtain thrust characteristics during flight conditions. Launching and operation of the booster rockets were satisfactory. Average internal pressures, total burning times, and total action times obtained were approximately those expected except for the booster fired at 35 degrees Fahrenheit which indicated higher pressures. Average thrust values were lower than expected, but total impulses were equal or above expected values. (Author)
