EXPERIMENTAL SURVEY OF ABSORBENT ACOUSTICAL MATERIALS FOR LIQUID PIPING SYSTEMS.

Abstract

Various materials were tested as pipe-wall liners for reducing fluidborne noise in liquid piping systems. It was found that flexible, porous materials and material composites are effective in liquids. The effects of liquid column and mechanical resonances of a system on an acoustic filter can be somewhat alleviated through the addition of resonant absorbers to the material. (Author)
