PROBLEMS OF THE INVESTIGATION OF ELEMENTARY PROCESSES IN LOW-TEMPERATURE PLASMA,

Abstract

The present status of the theories and experimental data on elementary processes in low-temperature plasma is considered. Particular attention is paid to: (1) Thermal dissociation of diatomic molecules; (2) Thermal dissociation of polyatomic molecules; (3) Exchange reactions; (4) Excitation and ionization of atoms by electrons; (5) Impact ionization; (6) Recombinative ionization; (7) Electronic excitation, electronic energy transfer and charge transfer in atomic and molecular collisions; (8) Ion-molecular reactions; (9) Dissociative recombination; (10) Associative ionization. The insufficient accuracy of present rate constant determinations is emphasized and the necessity in extensive theoretical investigations of above problems is discussed. (Author)
