PROCEEDINGS: DASA GROUND SHOCK CALCULATION MEETING.

Abstract

Papers were presented on the following topics: Axi-symmetric elastic-plastic ground motions from nuclear bursts; Summary report on development of a computer program to predict free-field ground motion; Characteristic emission from an underground explosion; Ground shock from surface bursts on rock; A characteristic finite difference scheme for calculation of airblast-induced motions in an elastic half sphere; Modified analytic solution for predicting ground shock environment from contained explosions; Analytic model for predicting ground shock environment from surface and shallow-buried nuclear explosions; Approximate solution for response of a soil-like medium by the method of generalized coordinates; Ground motion in the elastic region; Equation of state studies of porous earth; Dynamic properties of rocks; The high pressure hugoniot equation of state of two geological materials; Measurement of the very-high-pressure properties of materials using a light-gas gun; Shock unloading characteristics of crushable rocks; Stress wave propagation into a region of changing modules of deformation; Finite element approach for stress wave problems; Production of strongly overdriven plane detonation waves in condensed explosives.
