RELATION OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES TO THE STRUCTURE OF IONIC SOLIDS.

Abstract

The crystal structure analysis and least squares refinement of fluorophlogopite were completed. Detailed analysis of the data clearly indicates that the space group of fluorophlogopite is C2/m. The final R factor obtained with this space group using the counter data and the range estimate weighting scheme is 6.1%. A detailed discussion of the structure in terms of the various bond distances, bond angles and thermal vibrational parameters, is given. A brief summary of the results obtained from the Berg-Barrett x-ray diffraction patterns of the micas under various experimental conditions, is also given. (Author)
