INVESTIGATION OF ELECTRONIC INTERACTION WITH OPTICAL RESONATORS FOR MICROWAVE GENERATION AND AMPLIFICATION.

Abstract

Additional measurements with the experimental TE sub n11 monotron oscillator are described. Probing of the radiation from the uranium glass window at the end of the device has resulted in the observation of new oscillation frequencies. Measurements of the rf output spectrum are described. Design of an improved version of the monotron oscillator is discussed. The design changes being considered included changes in drift-tube and cavity length and diameters, reduction in beam thickness, and the introduction of mode control methods to improve coupling to the output waveguide.
