SURFACE WAVES AND DYNAMIC BOTTOM PRESSURE AT BUZZARDS BAY, MASSACHUSETTS.

Abstract

The report is an analysis of the surface waves and dynamic bottom pressure data recorded at the Buzzards Bay Entrance Light Station. Joint probability distributions of wave amplitudes and half periods are computed for ten sets of data recorded in November 1965. Transfer functions between the surface waves and dynamic bottom pressure, which show the attenuation of dynamic bottom pressure with wave frequency, are also computed. It is concluded that the transfer function indicates a boundary condition on the joint probability distribution of the dynamic bottom pressure. (Author)
