HIERARCHIAL AND MULTILEVEL SYSTEMS,

Abstract

This paper represents a formalization of the basic concepts of multilevel systems in general systems theory. Starting with the notion of a general interconnection of systems, a hierarchial and then a multilevel organization of systems are formalized. Some properties of the interrelationships among goals of two adjacent levels are given, and their importance, as it relates to coordination, is indicated. (Author)
