TRANSIENT WAVE PROPAGATION IN A PLASMA.

Abstract

The transient fields due to a dipole placed in lossless plasma and excited by a delta function or a step-modulated sine wave current source were obtained in closed form. Far field approximation was used in the case of step-modulated sine wave. An interesting problem of transmission and reflection of a step-modulated sinusoidal plane wave, when it is incident normally at the boundary of a semi-infinite plasma or a plasma slab was also included.
