DEFINITION OF SPACE FLIGHT MEDICAL KITS: A RATIONALE,

Abstract

A systematic approach to the identification of on-board medical therapeutic items for manned space flight is described. Included are a resume of the mission-spacecraft-crew specific factors to be considered, and a discussion of the correlative process needed to assess and integrate the many variables involved. The rationale is illustrated by data from a study using the described techniques, the requirement having been the definition of medical kit items for a manned space flight of several weeks duration.
