3.2 MILLIMETER WAVE OSCILLATOR.

Abstract

The program involves the development of a permanent magnet focused 10 kW pulsed distributed interaction klystron which oscillates at 93.75 GHz and has been both environmentally and life tested. It is believed that this objective will be reached when the necessary improvements are made in an Exploratory Development Model tube developed under a previous contract. A permanent magnet has been designed and its procurement initiated. All of the diodes life tested have been operated in excess of 600 hours without degradation in performance. Tube subassemblies have been environmentally tested without incident, and these subassemblies have been incorporated into a finished tube to be tested further. All subassemblies for tubes to be constructed have been completed with the exception of the cavity structure/output coupler assemblies, and these are nearing completion. Short pulse modulator construction has been temporarily suspended pending resolution of a radiated energy problem. It is anticipated that all tasks to be performed under this contract will be completed within the next quarter. (Author)
