ON THE USE OF GAS-TURBINES IN MERCHANT SHIPS,

Abstract

The specific fuel consumption in a uniflow simple system with a recovery circuit based on a low-boiling heat-transfer agent can attain approx. 165 - 170 g/eff.hp-hr. The most advantageous cycle for a wasteheat recovery cycle is the gas-liquid cycle with the supply of heat according to a supercritical isobar. From a preliminary review of several working mediums for a wasteheat recovery circuit, Freon-11 appears to be the most advantageous. For a further increase in the efficiency of the recovery circuit and the improvement of the design solutions of its assemblies, it is necessary to carry on the studies in the selection and development of new working media.
