AN INTEGRATED TERMINATION SYSTEM,

Abstract

An Integrated Termination System is one answer to the need for a standard for termination and interconnection of components. It is a concept that can be designed around basic modules, installation tooling, techniques and performance. Among other improvements it will: (1) Reduce the weight of the overall electrical system. (2) Provide sealed or non-sealed positive locking terminations throughout the system. Sealed terminations are water-, fuel-, and 'space' - proof. (3) Increase reliability, because there's less chance of error. (4) Offer the first common-termination system designed for space vehicles, aircraft, and ground support equipment. (5) Reduce assembly and rework time as much as 65 per cent. (6) Reduce tool requirements by as much as 95 per cent. (7) Give freedom from the bookkeeping, training and logistic problems of soldering, wrapping, splicing, lugging or potting. Any interconnection can be made by using rear/insertion-rear/removal type connectors; wire splices, feedthrust, terminal junctions, bus bars, all with the same type of termination. From dial lights to computer inputs and power supply connections, the application of an Integrated Termination System is limited only by your imagination. (Author)
