STUDY OF CERTAIN EQUIPMENT USED IN SIMULATED BLIND FLYING. PHASE C. EXPERIMENTAL STUDY.
Abstract
Phase C consisted of an experimental comparison of two simulated blind flying systems with respect to safety. The ability of a safety-pilot to perceive objects outside the cockpit was tested with each of the two systems: Regular Blue-Amber and Venetian Blind. The data provide some substantiation for the belief that both systems, as used, meet at least minimum safety requirements. Most subjects were able to identify a considerable number of the targets with both amber panels and the Blind.
