RESIDUAL VARIANCE SCALING AND MATRIX APPROXIMATION

Abstract

This report treats the canonical factor analysis model as a scale free lower rank approximation model. Computational algorithms are developed which appear to be faster than any currently available. The method is applied to published data and the results are compared with those obtained by other methods.
