VIEWING POINTS FOR THREE-DIMENSIONAL MAPS.

Abstract

The report sets forth a series of guidelines for selecting viewing points for three-dimensional maps. These guidelines are based upon the need for clarity, realism, and aesthetic quality in map representation. The report contains 20 illustrations which show the various aspects of azimuthal and elevational positions of the viewing point. One illustration contains 96 views of the hypothetical surface used in the analysis. (Author)
