INVESTIGATION OF METHODS OF EVALUATING HARDNESS OF NATURAL AND SYNTHETIC ELASTOMERS AT LOW TEMPERATURES.

Abstract

An investigation was made to determine the hardness properties of four different types of elastic and semi-elastic polymers at temperatures ranging from 74F to -80F. The tests were made using three hardness measuring instruments, including a Rex gauge, Pusey and Jones plastometer and the Materials Laboratory-Admiralty indentometer.
