MULTIPATH PROPAGATION ON TRANSARCTIC HF CIRCUITS,

Abstract

Multipath observations of HF pulse transmissions are discussed as observed on the transpolar propagation path College, Alaska - Kiruna, Sweden. During the winter months the signal strength was unusually high at Kiruna. Furthermore, the signals received on 18 Mc/s showed usually 3 components, with time delays of 3 and 6-7 msec respectively. It is tried to explain the unusual propagation conditions by means of great-circle tilt modes. For the long delayed signal a laterally deviated mode is proposed. (Author)
