SOME PECULIARITIES OF HEMORRHAGIC FEVER IN UZBEKISTAN,

Abstract

A description is given of the course and treatment of black fever. The pathogene of the disease is a filtrable virus. The main source and carrier of the virus is the tick Hyalomma anatolicum. The disease occurs sporadically during the spring and summer months. The incubation lasts 3 to 4 days and the initial stage of the disease covers 2 to 5 days. The last stage of the disease is characterized by a sharp increase in temperature, chill, jaded feeling and, quite often, dyspepsia disorders. The period of hemorrhage lasting 2 to 5 days is characterized by skin and mucous membrane eruption of various size as well as by bleeding of the nose, gums, uterus, intestine and also by hematemesis. Very characteristic for this period are hypochromic anemia, leukopenia, relative lymphocytosis, aneosinophylia and a high rate of erythrocyte sedimentation. Symptomatic treatment should be applied in the case of black fever. The patient begins to recover on the eighth or ninth day but weakness, anaemia and leukopenia may continue for another 2 to 3 weeks. (Author)
