PERCEIVED BRIGHTNESS OF FLASHING POINT SOURCES.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study further the perceived brightness of flashing point sources near and above threshold. Most recent work has been with sources having too large a size to be considered point sources. A stimulus size of a few minutes was desired. The method of Katz and Sturr was employed, making use of a 200 msec flash as a standard and investigating shorter flashes using both the co-terminating and co-beginning methods of presentation.
