PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATIONS INTO HOLOGRAPHY AND ITS APPLICATION TO CHARACTER RECOGNITION.

Abstract

The progress of the first six month's work in I and EE Department on the holographic technique is outlined. The main purpose of the investigation has been to gain familiarity with the practical details of the process, but to give direction to the work, one specific application, that to pattern recognition, has been selected for particular study. A series of Appendices give a brief account of the theory behind each of the experiments described. (Author)
