DEVELOPMENT OF TOUGH, HIGH STRENGTH ALPHA-BETA TITANIUM-BASE ALLOYS AT 240,000-260,000 PSI YIELD STRENGTH LEVEL II.

Abstract

In order to develop titanium alloys with 0.1% yield strength in the range 240,000-260,000 psi, a series of 31 eight-pound alloys are being prepared. Melting, testing and forging of 24 eight-pound ingots has been completed, and the data are tabulated herein. Following melting, the three 80 lb. ingots will be tested as sheet, bar stock and upset disks. Weldability studies are to be performed on the sheet material. The compositions of the three 80 lb. ingots were selected and the ingots are being melted. (Author)
