AN EQUIPMENT UTILIZATION SIMULATOR.

Abstract

The Equipment Utilization Simulator is composed of a series of four computer programs which generate mission requirements, create maintenance histories, and match missions to the equipment during the time periods being investigated. These programs have been written with a considerable internal flexibility that allows variation in the parameters influencing organizational activities. The program elements are the Mission Generator, Demand Scheduler, Item History Synthesizer, and the Simulator. The mission generator provides a series of specific missions representative of actual missions the equipment would be performing in operation. These individual missions are then organized into a series of daily schedules representing realistic requirements. Delays caused by equipment maintenance are simulated in a third portion of the overall program. The final section combines the mission requirements with the equipment capabilities to provide an operational schedule of activities. (Author)
