THE PREPARATION OF PENTABORANE-11 IN BENCH SCALE QUANTITIES.
Abstract
The production of pentaborane-11 was successfully scaled up to the point where about 0.75 cc per minute can be produced in runs lasting 10-20 minutes. It is made by allowing diborane at 25 psig to flow at 8 liters per minute through a 16-liter reactor maintained at 120C. Based on diborane consumed, yields are nearly quantitative. (Author)
