A METHOD OF FORMING A COMPRESSED-WORD CODE,

Abstract

The report proposes a method of forming a compressed word code by separating certain digits. It is designed for use in transmission and information retrieval systems. This method for decreasing code length and time taken to form it separates 'gating' digits from the code of the word obtained by sequential letter-by-letter recording and selects the digits of the word codes which form a matrix and whose probability of containing zeros and units is one-half.
