MILITARY TRANSFER OF TECHNOLOGY: INTERNATIONAL TECHNO-ECONOMIC TRANSFERS VIA MILITARY BY-PRODUCTS AND INITIATIVE BASED ON CASES FROM JAPAN AND OTHER PACIFIC COUNTRIES,

Abstract

The transfer of technology through military and related channels is discussed. Case studies are drawn from Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. The materials constitute a first attempt to bulldoze through a new dimension in cost/benefit assessments of military activity overseas. The report concludes that a dollar spent on military assistance may produce as much benefit as, or more than, a dollar spent on economic assistance. (Author)
