PROBLEMS ON THE GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION OF THE ATMOSPHERIC ELECTRIC FIELD INDUCED BY THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITIES

Abstract

In the paper, the electromagnetic equation in spherical coordinates is first derived with due consideration on the actual electrical conductivity of the atmosphere and the correct selection of conditions for solution. The distribution of the atmospheric electric field induced by thunderstorm activities is then evaluated.
