EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES OF THE ARCTIC D-REGION.

Abstract

The first part of this report deals with results from propagation experiments for measurements of the density and collision frequency of the free electrons during conditions of auroral absorption. The results obtained during a flight on 26 June 1966 are discussed in some detail. Results from RF impedance probe measurements of electron density and temperature are then discussed, and finally measurements of primary electrons by a Geiger-Muller tube experiment are given.
