NUMERICAL CALCULATION OF THE LOW REYNOLDS NUMBER FLOW OVER A BLUNT WEDGE WITH REARWARD FACING STEP.

Abstract

A computer program to calculate the low-Reynolds number flow over a wedge with a rearward facing step is described. The numerical method used is based on the approximation of the full Navier-Stokes equations by finite differences. The method is based on a new modification of the Lax-Wendroff difference scheme. A curvilinear, orthogonal coordinate system is used. The basic approach to the problem is to solve for the steady state boundary value problem by treating it as a time dependent initial value problem. (Author)
