THE EFFECT OF A FOREGROUND RIDGE ON THE GAIN AND PATTERN OF AN ANTENNA.

Abstract

Using a simplified antenna model on a ground plane and various sizes and types of ridges, the effects of a ridge obstruction in the foreground of a directive antenna have been investigated in a series of experiments at X band. Curves of the effects of a ridge at distances of 5 wavelengths to 80 wavelengths are given. Equations for the pattern of an antenna and lossy ridge are derived. The calculated patterns show good agreement with the measured results. (Author)
