SATELLITE SEPARATION AND THE ALLOCATION AND SPECIFICATION OF SHARED SPECTRUM USAGE FOR INTENSE EXPLOITATION,

Abstract

The article explores briefly what the technological limits may be to the orbital and spectrum capacity that could be achieved with coordinated, regulated use. Some areas of technological development are highlighted that appear particularly attractive and some approaches to policy and regulation are suggested. The comments concern the spectrum above 3400 MHz and the sharing between terrestrial microwave relay and satellite relay for fixed and mobile services, including direct broadcast from satellites.
