TABLES OF THE VELOCITY OF SOUND AND OF DEPTH CORRECTIONS FOR ECHO-SOUNDING IN HAWAIIAN WATERS,

Abstract

The report concerns the area around the Hawaiian Islands which lies within the boundaries of 150 - 170 degrees W and 10 - 30 degrees N. It constitutes Marsden squares 088, 089, 052, and 053 (10 degrees squares of latitude and longitude), as shown on the index map. The report presents a compilation of sound velocity data computed from hydrographic station measurements of temperature and salinity in the oceans. The measurements were assembled from the holdings of the National Oceanographic Data Center. The data file was first compiled in 1964 and then recompiled in 1966. The measurements were made at sea at times prior to late 1964. The locations of the stations are shown, by Marsden square. (Author)
