TUNGSTEN COMPOUNDS AS LIQUID ABSORBERS FOR MOSSBAUER EXPERIMENTS,

Abstract

The recoilless fraction f sub A of Na2WO4 and of the tungsten(VI)-halides WF6, WCl6 and WO2Cl2 is measured at 77K in a Mossbauer transmission experiment using the 46.5 keV transition in 183W. The Debye temperatures of these compounds were derived and the feasibility of Mossbauer transmission experiments with tungsten(VI)-halides near the melting point as absorbers is discussed with respect to the study of diffusion.
