INVESTIGATIONS OF BROADBAND FERROMAGNETIC POWER LIMITERS AND EXPANDERS AS DUPLEXING ELEMENTS FOR MICROWAVE SYSTEMS.

Abstract

Efficient broadband coupling to the lowest order surface magnetostatic mode in a transversely magnetized YIG slab was demonstrated experimentally. The coupling length for a polycrystalline YIG slab was determined. A helix expander was fabricated and tested. Maximum high level loss of not more than 1.5 db was achieved. Subsidiary resonance limiting was observed in a helix structure at C-band frequencies. Threshold is in the 100-mW range. (Author)
