BASIC RESEARCH ON THE REFRACTORY METALS MOLYBDENUM, NIOBIUM, TANTALUM AND TUNGSTEN (RECHERCHES DE BASE SUR LES METAUX REFRACTAIRES MOLYBDENE, NIOBIUM, TANTALE ET TUNGSTENE),

Abstract

The report concerns research and development of the four refractory metals, niobium, tantalum, tungsten and molybdenum. It shows, for each of the four metals, the fields in which further basic research seems most urgently needed and suggests a basis for a technical co-operative research program. The five most profitable lines of research are considered - equilibrium diagrams, diffusion couples, effects of impurities, reactions with gases and protective coatings. (Author)
