CHARGED PARTICLE TRACKS IN POLYMERS NO. 5: A COMPUTER CODE FOR THE COMPUTATION OF HEAVY-ION RANGE-ENERGY RELATIONSHIPS IN ANY STOPPING MATERIAL,

Abstract

A computer program to generate range and stopping power tables is described. This program can be used to compute the range and rates of energy loss of any ion in any stopping material of known atomic composition over the energy interval 0.04 - 1200 MeV/nucleon. The program extends the generalized expressions of Barkas and Berger to lower energies by using the range data of Whaling and the range extensions for emulsion of Heckman, et al., and Henke and Benton. It approximates existing data well. Included in this report are a flow chart, a listing of the Fortran IV coding, and sample output for comparison purposes. (Author)
