DISTORTION OF COORDINATES OF AIR PHOTOS AND MODELS BECAUSE OF THE INFLUENCE OF ATMOSPHERIC REFRACTION AND CURVATURE OF THE EARTH'S SURFACE.

Abstract

The obtained formulas make it possible to compute the influence of atmospheric refraction and the curvature of the earth's surface, with arbitrary angles of inclination of the aerial photographs. Moreover, on the basis of derived formulas it is possible to give a quantitative evaluation of the appropriate corrections, depending on such parameters as the altitude of the survey, the terrain relief, and the type of the aerial camera. The obtained evaluations enables the determination of conditions under which corrections should be introduced and the influence of the curvature, or refraction disregarded. (Author)
