A FIXED U SUM RULE FOR PSEUDOSCALAR-BARYON SCATTERING,

Abstract

A superconvergence relation is derived for backward pseudoscalar-baryon scattering which is valid if not more than one odd signature baryon trajectory is in the region -1/2 < or = alpha(0) < 1/2. The superconvergent amplitude is a linear combination of the invariant amplitudes and is determined by the residue function of the leading baryon trajectory. An example is discussed in which the sum rule is used to estimate the phase of the residue function of such a trajectory for small negative u. (Author)
