ON THE APPROXIMATION THEORY OF SHELLS WITH AVERAGE THICKNESS,

Abstract

An approximation theory of shells of rotation is proposed without recourse to the Kirchhoff-Lyav hypothesis. For the derivation of the theory there is used the half-turn method and the expansion of the unknown values into series of Legendre's polynomials. There were obtained the relationships of Hooke's approximation law and a resolving system of equations. There are given numerical examples for a cylindrical shell and there is given a comparison with the precise solution. (Author)
