OPERATION MANUAL FOR THE NOTS-NASA ROCKET-MOTOR ACOUSTIC TEST FACILITY STEADY-STATE RESONANCE TESTS WITH FLOW.

Abstract

Steady-state resonance tests with through flow and a sonic nozzle throat condition were run on the NOTS-NASA acoustic-loss test facility to establish and record the instrument hookup schematics, instrument settings, system calibration procedures, and data reduction techniques. The report is intended as a manual for operating the facility for this type of test. With this knowledge, the facility may be used to measure experimentally the acoustic chamber losses of scale-model rocket chambers. The loss coefficients that are determined may be used in comparing various internal motor geometries before full-scale motors are built and tested, with a possible saving of time and money. (Author)
