REPORT OF A FIELD STUDY ON SILICONE OINTMENTS MDX-4-4056 AND MDX-4-4078,

Abstract

Silicone ointment MDX-4-4056 applied to the feet once daily will significantly retard the development of warm immersion injury. The ointment is sticky, hard to apply, and has a short shelf life. A revised silicone ointment, MDX-4-4078, is less sticky and has a longer shelf life. The revised ointment was compared with MDX-4-4056 as to its effectiveness in retarding the development of warm immersion injury of the feet. The two ointments were of equal effectiveness and MDX-4-4078 is recommended as a replacement for MDX-4-4056. (Author)
