COMPUTER SIMULATION IN URBAN RESEARCH,

Abstract

Two major strains of research which make heavy use of simulation techniques are emerging: (1) those using urban growth, development, and spatial location models, and (2) studies of local government decisionmaking. These and two hybrid efforts aimed at simulating a synthesis of economic, political, and administrative elements of an urban system will be discussed as will a simulation of local referenda (on fluoridation). These studies include the majority of uses of computer simulation in urban research to date.
