MULTIDIMENSIONAL INFORMATION THEORY.
Abstract
This is the final report of a project on multidimensional information theory. The major work of the project dealt with applications of multidimensional information theory to special problems in biology and physics. Some general problems in multidimensional information theory, such as multidimensional sampling theorems, multidimensional noise and multidimensional Hilbert transforms were treated in some of the reports. There is also a report that deals with the problem of shape. The principal biological problems treated were the application of information and control theory to homeostasis, information aspects of the protein carriers in the blood and digestive system, and the application of noise theory to the problem of aging. The principal physical problems treated were the application of sideband theory to diffraction theory and optical information, the derivation of the coherence and waveshape properties of natural light using the tools of communication theory, and the application of communication theory to quantum mechanics. Publications of the project consisted of eight technical reports and six articles. (Author)
