A TEST OF TIME REVERSAL INVARIANCE USING THE MOSSBAUER TRANSMISSION OF THE 73 KEV TRANSITION IN IR193.

Abstract

Real and imaginary part of the E2-M1 mixing ratio of the 73 keV transition in Ir193 were determined in an arrangement that requires no correction for Faraday rotation and isomer shift. The parameters, E-gamma = 73.8 keV, g1/2 = 0.9408, R-delta = 0.556, H = 1.437 MG, and f = 0.5, were determined. The value Im-delta = (+1.0 plus or minus 1.7) x 0.001 results in a phase angle between E2 and M1 of eto = (+1.8 plus or minus 3.0) x 0.001, thus showing no evidence for a T violation. (Author)
