POLARIZATION GRADIENT IN ELASTIC DIELECTRICS.

By inclusion of the polarization gradient in the stored energy function of elastic dielectrics, the classical theory of piezoelectricity is extended to accomodate an electro-mechanical interaction in centrosymmetric (including isotropic) materials and a surface energy of deformation and polarization.
