NEUTRON-INDUCED ACTIVITY ON A BEACH: A METHOD FOR CALCULATING THE DOSE RATE,

Abstract

A method for calculating the dose rate above a beach from neutron-induced activity in the beach is presented. The gamma rays from the neutron-induced nuclides Na24, Mn56, and Al28 are considered. The method can consider non-uniform Na, Mn, and Al content and neutron thermalization in a beach. Results of calculations using the method are presented for typical cases. (Author)
