RESEARCH ON THE OBSERVATION OF EARTH SATELLITES.

Abstract

The report deals with the work of recording Earth satellites photographically during 1958 and 1959 using conventional photographic equipment (size 24 x 36 mm) from two sites near Copenhagen. It is explained how especially coded second impulses adjusted by means of time signals sent from Rugby Radio, England and delivered from the local Telephone Company, are used for the timing of the exposures by means of a fast working relay mounted as a shutter in front of the lens. Error O, 007 second in relation to GMT. Considerations concerning the quality of various lenses used for the purpose, a method of determining the photographic brightnesses of the satellites and methods of tracking the satellites. (Author)
